The age and order in which children learn to pronounce sounds correctly varies according to the language they speak. <\/span><\/p><ul><li><p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In Spanish<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, children usually first acquire the simplest sounds such as &#8220;p&#8221;, &#8220;b&#8221;, &#8220;m&#8221;, &#8220;t&#8221;, &#8220;d&#8221;, &#8220;n&#8221;. Between the ages of 3 and 4, they learn sounds such as &#8220;k&#8221;, &#8220;g&#8221;, &#8220;f&#8221;, &#8220;s&#8221;, and by the age of 5 or 6 they manage to produce more complex sounds such as the strong &#8220;r&#8221; or &#8220;ll&#8221; (in areas where it is still distinguishable). <\/span><\/p><\/li><li><p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In French<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, the first sounds that appear are usually &#8220;m&#8221;, &#8220;n&#8221;, &#8220;p&#8221;, &#8220;b&#8221;, &#8220;t&#8221;, &#8220;d&#8221;. Sounds like &#8220;ch&#8221; (as in  <\/span><span class=\"s3\">chat<\/span><span class=\"s2\">) or &#8220;j&#8221; (as in <\/span><span class=\"s3\">je<\/span><span class=\"s2\">) appear later, usually between the ages of 5 and 6.<\/span><\/p><\/li><li><p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In English<\/span><span class=\"s2\">Children usually start with sounds such as &#8220;p&#8221;, &#8220;b&#8221;, &#8220;m&#8221;, &#8220;t&#8221;, &#8220;d&#8221;, &#8220;n&#8221; before the age of 3. More difficult sounds, such as &#8220;sh&#8221; (as in   <\/span><span class=\"s3\">shoe<\/span><span class=\"s2\">), &#8220;th&#8221; (as in <\/span><span class=\"s3\">think<\/span><span class=\"s2\">) or &#8220;r&#8221; (as in <\/span><span class=\"s3\">run<\/span><span class=\"s2\">) can take up to 6 or even 7 years to consolidate.<\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul><p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s3\">It is therefore important to assess pronunciation taking into account the child&#8217;s language and the developmental norms for each language.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d45e289 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\"
