About me
In Belgium : university training and intensive clinical practice
I completed my speech therapy training in Brussels, starting with a three-year degree at the Institut Libre Marie Haps, an institution recognized for the quality of its teaching, and ending with a master’s degree at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB).
During these years, I carried out numerous hours of clinical practice in varied and demanding contexts, which allowed me to acquire a rich, transversal and deeply human experience:
In several regular and specialized schools, I worked with children with language and learning disorders, such as dyslexia, dysorthography, dyscalculia, dyspraxia, dysphasia, myofunctional disorders or speech and language delays. I treated children and adolescents with very diverse profiles: learning difficulties, intellectual disability, hearing impairment or even psychological disorders.
At the Saint-Luc University Clinics, I worked in dysphagia rehabilitation, mainly with adults in oncological, accidental or neurodegenerative contexts, developing specific skills in the treatment of swallowing disorders.
At CHU Brugmann, I participated in audiologic evaluations with a diverse population, from newborns to adults, many with suspected hearing impairment.
At the CHU Saint-Pierre, a university hospital, I did an internship in the otorhinolaryngology department, under the supervision of leading specialists in dysphonia. I was in charge of the evaluation and treatment of adult and elderly patients with vocal and/or swallowing disorders, within a rigorous clinical approach.
Thanks to this training and experience, I am familiar with a wide range of pathologies such as learning disorders, oral and written language disorders, myofunctional disorders, hearing impairment, dysphagia and especially dysphonia.
In Spain: approval and autonomous practice
In order to continue my professional development in my country of origin, I took specialized training courses in the vocal area in Spain. I have had the privilege to train directly with:
Mariela Astudillo, international reference in voice feminization.
Damián Osorio, speech therapist expert in voice training and rehabilitation.
These experiences have enriched my practice and consolidated my vocology skills.
In addition, I participated in the translation of the book“Voice Feminization Handbook: Initiation to LGBTQIA+ Vocology”, which reflects my commitment to the LGBTQIA+ community and my in-depth knowledge in the field of voice.
Currently, I have my practice in Mijas (Malaga) and I also offer online sessions at an international level, which allows a professional and personalized accompaniment, accessible from anywhere in the world.
I grew up in Brussels, a deeply multicultural city, in a Spanish-speaking family. Since I was a child, Spanish and French have been my languages of reference. Throughout my academic and personal journey, I have also developed a strong proficiency in English.
This background has given me an integrated bilingual identity and a particular sensitivity to multilingual contexts. I am fully comfortable to accompany people in Spanish and French, and I can also perform interventions in English, depending on the patient’s needs.
This competency enables me to serve :
Bilingual schoolchildren in international contexts
Expatriate adults wishing to receive care in their mother tongue
Multilingual families seeking guidance adapted to their linguistic and cultural reality
This intercultural approach not only enriches the therapeutic relationship, but also allows me to build bridges between the patient’s different worlds, valuing their linguistic background as a real strength.
My way of working is deeply rooted in three qualities that have guided me at every stage of my career:
Passionate about my profession
I discovered at a very young age that speech therapy was the path I wanted to follow. This early conviction drove me to move forward with determination, and with a constant motivation to continue learning and accompanying.
Empathic listening
In each session, I strive to offer a space where listening, respect and presence are a priority. My approach is based on a great sensitivity, empathy and respect for people, qualities that I consider essential in a profession focused on the care of others.qualities that I consider essential in a profession focused on caring for others.Adaptability and multicultural sensitivity
Thanks to my international and multilingual background, I adapt the therapeutic tools not only to the clinical profile, but also to the cultural and emotional reality of each patient. This ability allows me to design truly customized, effective and sustainable interventions.
My practice is a place where science, humanity and creativity coexist. Attending to each person as a whole is what defines my way of practicing speech therapy.
